Updated: Mar 9

Adding a link to a form for each client can be soooo time-consuming so check out how I use custom-mapped fields to easily add a link to a form

I thought I would share this great tip I found on how to use custom-mapped fields in Dubsado to streamline your onboarding. This amazing tip has saved me so much time since I started using it because it is just amazing, so if you need to send your client a Google Folder link or a Zoom recording link like I do then this tip is for you.

I use this process all the time for my 'Welcome Pack' to add the shared Google Folder link with my clients. This simple task means I do not have to edit the form each time I get a new client, I now just add the folder link to the project and it automatically adds the link straight to the form for me, so let me help you streamline your process with this amazing tip.

Here are some examples of how you can use this tip in your business:

  • For sending a Google Folder Link as mentioned previously.

  • If you need to send over a 'How to' video to your clients.

  • If you are using your forms to send over Canva Design Templates.

  • If you are needing to send your clients an eBook / Workbook / downloadable PDF.

  • Do you send your clients Zoom recordings - this can be if you are using Dubsado workflows to offboard a Power Hour client, for example.

  • The list is endless - so this is great for any link you need to add to a form.

Follow the step to save yourself some precious time

The first thing you need to do is add a button to the form template where you will need the link to show for your client.

First, create a custom-mapped field and add a button to the form template

Here is how:

  1. The first thing to do in Dubsado is to create your custom-mapped field. Go to Settings > Custom-mapped fields > click on the 'Project' tab and create a field for each folder/link you will need to share with your client (see video for further assistance)

  2. Once you have created the custom-mapped fields, go to the form templates area and select the form template you will be using to share the link with your client. On the templates add a text box.

  3. In the text box, add your smart field - click 'smart field' > under 'project' find the correct smart field > a URL will appear in the text box > copy the URL. Tip: if you have more than one custom-mapped field to add to your form then have a Google Doc open and then copy and paste all the URLs onto the Doc.

  4. Once you have all your URLs then create a 'Button' using the custom-mapped field URL, and add the wording that you would like the client to see as the text.

  5. Close the text box.

Watch the video below to see how I do this.

clients PROJECT - HOW TO ADD THE LINK AUTOMATICALLY TO THEIR FORM

This task will need to be carried out for each client prior to sending the form you created above. It's super simple, I promise😁

  1. Just add the link in the custom-mapped field section on the left-hand side panel. Copy and paste your URL into the relevant custom-mapped field and voila the button on the form template will automatically get updated.

How simple is that 😃

This tip will save you from having to edit each form for each individual client which can be a tedious time consuming task so use this and save yourself time.
